The prescription line is now open 24 hours a day, including weekends and bank holidays. It is now a voicemail system so please leave a clear message with your name, date of birth and specify the items you require, failure to do so may result in no prescription being issued.
You can also order at the surgery by completing a medication request form.
Please allow 2 working days for your prescription to be processed.
Collecting your prescription
We recommend that all patients inform us of a nominated pharmacy where we can send your presciption. This will save you time and you can call directly with them to collect your medication.
Your pharmacy will be able to advise you of their collection process as they may vary.
Please allow the surgery 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed.
Questions about your prescription
If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.
If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription:
- book a telephone appointment with our Practice Pharmacist.
- fill in our medication query form.
Medication reviews
If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. This may involve blood tests or just a telephone review call. It is important to ensure you follow up with these requests as we may not be able to safely issue your medication.
What to do with old medicines
You can take your unused or expired medication to any Pharmacy to be disposed of.
You should never dispose of your old medication by yourself at home, as it could be dangerous. If you throw your unwanted medication into the bin, then it could be found by children or pets who could eat it and make themselves sick. If you try to flush your unwanted medicine down the toilet or empty it into a drain then it could be harmful to the environment, so it’s just a bad idea no matter what you try! Do the right thing, do the safe thing, and give your unwanted medication to a pharmacist so they can get rid of it properly.
