Nurses
All our Practice Nurses are registered general nurses with additional specialist qualifications appropriate to their duties. They perform dressings, injections, blood tests, vaccinations etc and advise on health problems and travel vaccinations. The nurses are also specially trained to work in the many specialised clinics run by the practice. You can make an appointment for the treatment room or a specialised clinic through reception.
Reception
The receptionists are usually your first point of contact with the Practice. They will help you obtain the medical and nursing services you require. They are often working under pressure and therefore will appreciate your co-operation and patience.
Healthcare Assistants
Our Healthcare Assistants support our medical team by performing basic clinical tasks such as taking blood samples, measuring blood pressure, conducting health checks, and assisting with minor procedures. They also provide administrative support, helping to ensure the smooth operation of the practice
Community Nurses
They provide expert nursing care for those who are confined to home and continuing care following hospital discharge.
Health Visitors
They monitor and give advice on child health problems, health promotion and child protection. They also carry out developmental assessments and give immunisations.
Mental Health Practitioners
To offer short term support or to refer on toward to whichever service you require
First contact Physiotherapists
Our experienced physiotherapists can provide a complete assessment of all musculoskeletal problems including joint, muscle and spinal problems. Our physios can do everything (and often more) than a GP can do including full clinical assessment, detailed advice, prescribing, joint injections, investigation with x-rays and scans, referral for ongoing physiotherapy and to specialists such as the orthopaedic service. For the best service, patients are encouraged to request an appointment with a physio for all musculoskeletal problems. If following their assessment, our physio feels they cannot adequately help or investigate your problem they will arrange an assessment by a GP.
In-house Social Workers
Our social workers who can provide a wide range of advice and support for many issues including - isolation or loneliness, carer support, relationship difficulties, parenting difficulties, housing difficulties, stress, bereavement and trauma, alcohol and drug addiction, financial difficulties and benefit queries.
If you are struggling or need advice and support with any of these or similar issues please request a call with a social worker.
Macmillan Nurses
They provide specialist advice on palliative care, support to patient and family in the home, day care and volunteer practical help and bereavement counselling.
